The Aries New Moon

I AM Rising: Releasing Old Identities

We are moving toward a powerful New Moon in Aries on April 17, and the energy building around it, and after it, is anything but subtle. No worries. My perspective is that it is delicious territory to explore as we are learning to meet life multidimensionally.

Aries is the spark of I AM—the place where identity is born, claimed, and lived. All these themes are highlighted with this Aries New Moon. It arrives with Mercury, Mars, Neptune, and Saturn in a tight pow wow in early Aries while the Sun and Moon are holding hands in late Aries with Wounded Healer, Chiron and Radical Catalyst Eris.

Chiron is the Wise Centaur symbolizing our deepest primal wound (the belief we are separate), and all the fears and dramas that spawn from that belief. Chiron also represents our potential to transmute that pain into profound wisdom and healing.

Eris is the archetype of the outcast feminine that bravely demands justice and inclusion. Her energy is raw, fiery, and outspoken, aiming to challenge, break down outdated structures, and create equality, especially for those who have been marginalized or excluded.

As you might imagine, these energies, when consciously cultivated empower a liberating honesty while from the perspective of our unconscious, they have the potential to activate old wounds around identity, truth, and belonging.

At the same time, that powerful cluster of planets in early Aries—Mercury, Mars, Neptune, and Saturn—is requesting input from the Cosmic Shaman, Pluto.

Translation? The energy may feel fast. Reactive. Charged. Not because something is going wrong but because something false is being asked to release its grip.

Pluto’s Cosmic Wink: You are remembering you’re a powerful creator being. Transformation means changing energies, moving them toward expression into new forms aligned with that truth. Each of you is an essential participant that plays a precious role in life's unfoldment.

We are learning the difference between honoring our story and unconsciously using it to define our future. This is a moment to gently and consciously release any identity rooted in victimhood or an us/them mentality. Not by denying what you’ve lived, but by choosing not to let it author what comes next.

A chant you might sit with:

Through me flows the Infinite YES,
Love’s rhythm sings my soul’s address,
In every breath, new life is streaming,
Each step resounds with joy’s returning.

While most of us have been taught that life happens to us and we are victims of chance, circumstance, or cosmic punishment, the truth is life is always in partnership with us. Even the jagged, painful, traumatic experiences carry within them the seed of restoration. Nothing ever arrives to diminish us. Each wave is carrying us closer to remembering the truth of all being.

Cosmic Wink from Mars: Aries asks for the embodiment of the I AM presence. You don’t want to handicap your future by dragging the misperceptions of your past into it. Authenticity wipes the slate clean.

And while those themes might feel like more than enough to energetically process and manage, there is still more unfolding just beneath the surface. Uranus, the Great Awakener, is completing its long journey through Taurus—a cycle that began in 2018 and has been steadily reshaping our views on security, stability, and value.

Liberating Uranus, now at the very last degree of Taurus, is a strong clearing wind, loosening anything built on fear, scarcity, or separation. Its shift into Gemini on April 26 changes the focus of its energies. So, as it finishes its sojourn through Taurus, it is meant as a final clearing away of the foundations of old systems and patterns that no longer contribute to the highest good of all.

Your nervous system will be offering you sacred guidance through these transitions. When energy moves with the lightning speed that Uranian energy does, the body often registers it first. It’s not something you want to push through. It’s meant to have you slow down and pause.

Support for Threshold Moments

If your nervous system begins to feel as if it will short circuit—life feels too loud, chaotic, charged, and over-stimulating—take a time out. You are not here to absorb the wave or to get swept away by it.

Yes, something is moving. Not to overwhelm you. But to return you to yourself. One breath at a time. Stay with yourself.

Inhale deeply into your belly and then hum on each exhale. The vibrations from humming stimulate the vagus nerve, which shifts the body from a "fight or flight" state to "rest and assimilate” mode. Regular humming also lowers heart rate and blood pressure while increasing heart rate variability (HRV), a key indicator of cardiovascular resilience.

There is wisdom in pacing. There is intelligence in gentleness. And there is profound strength in meeting yourself with compassion instead of judgment.

Cosmic Wink from Uranus: Get your playfulness on. Curiosity and wonder keep the heart open to awe and loosen the grip of control and certainty. The more playful you are, the more the Universe arranges to delight you. Cultivate the perspective that quantum leaping is a delightful adventure!

Before Uranus fully exits Taurus, there is a key time to pay attention to: April 19-24. The Moon unites with Uranus on April 19 planting new seeds of growth potential as she carries that light into Gemini. Then Venus, the ambassador of Taurus, joins Uranus on April 23.

Don’t be surprised if during this time period you feel sudden clarity around what truly matters and is essential to your own happy, healthy, and thriving. It’s an excellent time to acquire certainty about what is no longer negotiable in your experience. Not from fear but from truth.

Cosmic Wink from Venus: Cultivate Taurus’ tranquility. Slow your pace and get your OM on. Then you'll know your next step and the perfect time to take it. Keep the faith that you have whatever is required and stand firmly in the truth that nothing external has any authority over what heaven has in mind for you.

A Reflection for This Uranian Threshold

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018. Take a moment and look back. Where have you been asked to redefine safety? What have you outgrown, even if it once felt essential? What unexpected freedoms have emerged? And perhaps most importantly, how have you been supported in ways you didn’t anticipate?

Because even in disruption, recognize that there have been blessings. Let yourself see them. Let yourself feel them.

Cosmic Wink from the Universe: Whatever your challenges may be, laugh at them because you are forever and they are temporary. (Courtesy of Mike Dooley’s “Notes from the Universe”)

It was inspiring to watch the Artemis II crew share their experience after the completion of their mission. I felt their heart in everything they shared. I especially treasured the insights Christina Koch shared. She spoke about looking at the “tiny” Earth, hanging as an “undisturbed lifeboat surrounded by blackness.” And she shared what being part of a crew meant to her. She communicated that a crew is a group that is in it together, all the time, no matter what; aligned with the same purpose and willing to sacrifice silently for each other; gives grace, holds accountable, has the same care and the same needs; and is inescapably, beautifully, dutifully, linked. She summed up by saying that while she’s still processing everything she learned and experienced, she has come away with one certainty: “Planet Earth, you are a crew.”

I could hear the cosmos giving her a standing ovation for that insight. I joined them. Yes, we are beautiful Gaia’s crew. In honor of that awareness, let’s clothe our aura with a festive “no order of difficulty!” Let’s deepen our appetite for the extraordinary and radiate an attitude of gratitude to Gaia and all that we value in our lives.

Cosmic Wink from Neptune: You are not becoming someone new as much as you are remembering someone true. You are becoming who you’ve always known yourself to be, even if some facets of the world have not yet learned how to reflect that back to you.
